Dogs Lead the Way as Marie Curie launch "Walk Ten"!
Tuesday, June 17, 2014While it's clear for all that I'm totally obsessed with fashion, I'm equally as passionate when it comes to supporting charities! Whether it's through donations, shopping in local charity shops, fundraising efforts or volunteering for local charities, there are a multitude of ways you can get involved to help with your local charities!
I myself have been lucky enough to help out with Marie Curie, even helping to raise awarness of the fab finds to be found at their local charity shops! Not only are a Marie Curie a lovely charity to work with, but they provide invaluable help and support to those suffering with cancer and it's with this in mind that I wanted to draw attention to their latest faudraising event: Marie Curie's "Walk Ten"!
Marie Curie Community Fundraisers, Grace Smyth and Heather Miller, are pictured taking to the track at Drumbo Park Greyhound Stadium to launch Marie Curie’s flagship walking event, Walk Ten.
This year’s "Walk Ten" 10K walks will be taking place at Stormont Estate on 30th August and at the Folk Park in Omagh on 6th September, and for the first year ever, it’s open to our canine friends.
The events aim to raise as much money as possible to allow Marie Curie to continue to provide free nursing care to terminally ill people in their own homes and at the Marie Curie Hospice, Belfast.
Marie Curie’s Partnership Manager, Suzy McIlveen commented, ” Walk Ten is open to everyone in the community- from the very young to the very old and their four legged friends as well. It’s our biggest walking event in the year and is always a great evening out, with entertainment and fun activities for all of those who take part.
Over 3,500 people took part last year and we are calling on the people of Northern Ireland to show their support for this worthy cause. Without it, our nurses wouldn’t be able to continue to do their amazing work supporting those with terminal illnesses.”

Registration is £10 per person (children under-16 go free; on the night adult registration is £20) and everyone is asked to aim to raise £60 each to support Marie Curie - this is equivalent to three hours of Marie Curie nursing care locally.
Both Stormont Estate and the Folk Park in Omagh are fabulous locations and if we continue to get this fabulous weather, Walk Ten will be THE perfect way to spend a Summer's day, so why not get involved and help raise money to help Marie Curie continue in their invaluable work!
